Tasting Notes

Great with tomato based pastas like lasagne or bolognese. Pronounced ripe mulberry flavours and expressive dark chocolate richness. The palate follows through with plush mulberry flavours, but this time more red and vibrant. A combined aftertaste of very subtle freshly roasted coffee beans. The multi-layered complexity of this wine will develop over the following 3 - 7 years.

Established in 1685 over 300 years of winemaking in the shadows of the Groot Drakenstein Mountain outside Franschhoek have led this famous multi award Winery being shortlisted for World Heritage Status. Anyone travelling through the South African Boschendal could also stay in the estate. This not only allows you to stay in what look to be pretty luxurious cottages but would give you free access to the winery- a great experience. If you haven't been here before, I can highly recommend it having spent my honeymoon there- albeit some time ago.
